Funeral services for Sharlett Ann Scott will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Bro. Mike Heron will officiate. Interment will follow at Marquez Cemetery in Marquez.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, with the family present, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Scott passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at BSA Hospice in Amarillo.

Sharlett Ann Scott was born on January 17, 1946 in Spur, Texas to parents, Henry & Ruby McKay. She spent a lot of her time growing up in Spur and in Lubbock. At a young age Ms. Scott married her true love, Billie Steve (Scotty) Scott and they had three children. Due to Scotty?s job in construction the family moved often until he retired and they settled in Houston, where they spent many years before moving to Marquez. Ms. Scott was a very talented seamstress and often made special outfits for her family. She loved to travel but her favorite pastime was reading. She shared her love of reading with her children by taking them to the library often. Ms. Scott was president of the Ladies Auxiliary Post #10352 for many years and was also inducted as a lifetime member. She participated in many charitable events. Ms. Scott adored her husband and family. She loved people and was very compassionate and caring, was always willing to help others and this compassion carried over to her constant companion, her dogs. She was very optimistic, joyful, fun loving and very devoted to her family. Mr. & Mrs. Scott also shared a love for veterans.

She is survived by her three children, Judy Engledow & husband Durwood of Buffalo, Cary (Todd) Scott of Amarillo, and David Scott & wife Katy of Houston; six grandchildren, John Kevin Ingram, Chris Ingram, Christina Scott, Cary Scott Jr., Ashley Scott, and Stacie Scott; four great-grandchildren, Faith Ingram, Cheyann Broyles & husband Tyler, Caitlyn Johnson, and Drew Johnson; two great-great-grandchildren, Corbin Broyles and Levi Broyles; her mother-in-law, Essie Scott; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Steve (Scotty) Scott; her father, Henry McKay; her mother, Ruby McKay; her brother, Jimmy McKay; her sister, Vicky Land; great-great-granddaughter, Felicity Broyles; and her father-in-law, Bill Scott.
