Donald Glenn “Don” Lathrop

Graveside services for Don Lathrop, age 83, were held at 10:00a.m., on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Parker Cemetery in the Flo Community of Leon County, Texas. Pastor Phil Smith officiated the service. Military honors were rendered by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard. The Lathrop family received friends Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett.

Donald Glen Lathrop was born September 30, 1935 in Flo, Texas to Albert Riley ?A.R. or Bake? and Tommie (Bell) Lathrop. He and his siblings were raised in Flo. Don was a graduate of Centerville High School where he also worked as a bus driver while in attendance. He joined the U.S. Army following graduation and later worked many years for Brown and Root, which took he and his family all over the world. Don was also the owner and operator of Leon County Supply in Buffalo.

Don enjoyed working in his garden and cooking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family including his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don passed away suddenly Saturday, August 31, 2019 in Crockett, Texas.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Eula Lathrop; brother, A.J ?Junior? Lathrop and sister, Opal (Lathrop) Moore.

Surviving family members include daughter, Dona & step daughter Pam Lathrop of Buffalo; nephews, Danny Lathrop of Buffalo, Melvin Lathrop of Flo, Lonice Lathrop of Grapeland; Niece Marcella Bingham of Idaho; grandchildren, Brenton Lathrop (April), Ashley Lathrop, Dustin Baker (Makayla Mitcham), Shelbie Lathrop & Cheyenne Eitson, all of Buffalo and great-grandchildren, Cash, Cainen, Reagan, Brystol, Blayne, Addison &Jace, as well as, numerous cousins and extended family.
