Meet The Bison 2019

Meet the Bison was held at Buffalo High School on Monday, August 19.

Leon County is hot/dry, we are in the middle of county imposed Burn Ban, and the streams and creeks are not flowing very rapidly.

Bison fans and supporters certainly had their financial support for their youth in full flow mode at the high school gym last Monday.

Wow!!! You folks continue to impress this reporter with your huge hearts and open generosity for our kids.

Superintendent Lacy Freeman greeted athletes, teachers, parents, and family members and explained the purpose of the event. Head Coach /AD Brandon Houston introduced the coaching staff and turning the nights activities over to Bison Dad Adam Woods ? super Auctioneer.

The auction of parking spots, tickets, cakes, pies, cookies and any other item people could thing to donate was on?.

The very capable, talented Mr. Woods with the support of Greg Kennedy, JH Principal, Bison Booster Jeff Jones, coaches, and numerous athletes and band members generated a record breaking $23,750 for Bison Fall activities. Outstanding turnout and results.

The 200 plus Bison students that participate in sports, band, Belles, and support capacities at the high school and junior high levels were introduced by the coaches and directors. What an impressive turnout by our young people that would not succeed without this huge level of community support. Be very proud of your young people, families, and our community!!!

The Bison football teams travelled to Iola on Thursday, August 22 for their final scrimmage before opening the 2019 season at Crockett. We have a well coached team that is in a ?work in progress? mode. Our young athletes bringa lot of talent and mix well with the committed, experienced players.

We will need the freshmen and sophomore players to ?step up? and bring the total team up to the tough, competitive level that Coach Houston and his staff deserve and expect.

See y?all at Crockett??be ready to support your Bison against a tough, revenge seeking team?.
