BEDC Tackles Agenda

Directors of the Buffalo Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) met Wednesday, July 10th for their regular monthly meeting. Vice President Bobby Fishbeck presided.

The board heard a request for funds from a representative of the Veterans Outdoor Event that will be held at the Expo Center on September 28th. Following a discussion, the board voted to allow $1,500 to help support the event which brings in participants for outdoor hunts and other activities.

A request from the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce for additional funds to help with the Buffalo Stampede was tabled.

The board voted to approve the BEDC Accountable Reimbursement Policy. Also approved was the schedule for training that new Executive Director Mike Anderson plans to attend.

Anderson also presented the board with plans for a Small Business Luncheon that will be held for persons who have recently opened a new business in Buffalo or are planning to open one. Three persons with new business adventures were present at the meeting.

One of the new business owner is Anna Landry who spoke about her therapeutic massage spa which is opening behind the ReMax Real Estate Company. Landry said the therapeutic message is an alternative care treatment, and she plans to expand into a school for massage specialists.

The board discussed bids for a website and voted to approve the bid from Nancy Hankins. Also, approved was a bid from Harcrow and Harcrow, P.C. for bookkeeping services.

Directors attending the meetings were Bobby Fishbeck, Mike Glick, Cindy Port, Susan Wilder, Dianne Ryder, and Larry Tatum. Also present were Pauline Graham, Buffalo Mayor Jerrod Jones, Anna Landry, Rose Gonzales, and Lyn Ault.
