Mike Anderson Named Executive Director of BEDC

Directors of the Buffalo Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) met Wednesday, May 22nd for a closed session. The closed session was to consider and possibly take action on the qualifications, duties, and employment of the Executive Director.

After the discussion, a motion was made to offer the position of Executive Director to Mike Anderson, a Leon County resident and former Buffalo ISD administrator and coach.

Anderson was one of 6 candidates, all well qualified, who recently applied for the position. BEDC directors expressed appreciation for all those who applied and are grateful for their support and interest in the community.

Ken Jones, the current Executive Director, who announced over a year ago his plans to retire, has offered his support and guidance to Anderson to make a smooth transition. Jones has been the BEDC Executive Director since 2001 and is the only Executive Director the corporation has had.

Pauline Graham, who has served along side Jones as Secretary of the BEDC, is also retiring but will help, also, with the transition.

BEDC will hold their annual meeting on June 12th. This year the meeting will be held at 5:30 pm at the new Civic Center. The public is invited. Jones and Graham will be honored and thanked for their dedication and service. And Mike Anderson will be introduced as the new Executive Director.

Directors attending the May 22nd meeting were Bobby Fishbeck, Mike Glick, President Dr. Russell Jonas, Cindy Port, Susan Wilder, Larry Tatum, and Dianne Ryder.
