Court with Judge Evans

Leon District Court was held Friday, May 17th, in Centerville. The Honorable District Judge Deborah Oakes Evans presided. Present to represent the state were District Attorney Hope Knight and Assistant District Attorney Keith Cook.

Joe Davis, Jr., appeared in court to have his Community Supervision terminated early. Due to Davis? success in cooperating with the terms of his supervision following charges of Evading Arrest, the probation was completed early.

Amber Boyce was in court for a status in her case and an admonishment from the judge. Boyce, currently assigned to adult supervision following charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, was advised by Judge Evans to ?do exactly what you?re suppose to to?. It had been reported to the judge that Boyce had failed to report on time and had a poor attitude in a phone conversation. Boyce agreed to adhere to the requirements of the supervision.

The case against Christina Campos was on the docket for a plea, but was reset. Campos faces multiple charges of Theft of a Firearm and one charge of Theft of Property. The attorney for Campos is Allen Tanner.

Shawe Williams appeared for a status hearing in his case. Williams is charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. Attorney John Bankhead, who is representing Williams, has filed a Motion to Quash in the case. A date was set for the case in September.

The case against Charlyn Denise Morisak was set to be heard in July. Morisak is charged with Deadly Conduct Discharge of a Firearm. The attorney for Morisak is Chris Martin.

Jerome Dawson, Jr., appeared in court on a Motion to Revoke his probation. Dawson, currently being held in the Leon County Jail, plead not true to charges concerning violation of the terms of his probation. The attorney for Dawson is Stanley Sokoloswki.

Freddy Dean Brent Aguirre, Jr., was in court for a pre-trial in his case. Aguirre is currently being held in the county jail on charges of Assault Family/Household Member Impeding Breath/Circulation. Knight also reported to the judge several pending charges against Aguirre. The attorney for Aguirre is John Bankhead.

No motions were made in the pre-trial concerning the case against Kevin Donnell Banks who is charged with Criminal Negligent Homicide. The attorney for Banks is Chris Martin.

A trial date was set for the case against Crystal Ellen McKenna who is charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. The attorney for McKenna is Kelly Weeks.

Arraignments:

Edmund Dakota Clark entered a not guilty plea to two charges of Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle and one charge of Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle. Clark, who is free on bond, is represented in court by Attorney William Bennett, Jr.

Misty Rochelle Koval plead not guilty to a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. The attorney for Koval is Chris Martin. Koval is free on bond.

Hulises Marroquin, charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle, entered a not guilty plea and asked for a reduction in his bond. Knight noted that Marroquin is currently on probation stemming from charges in another county. The judge reviewed the bond and found it reasonable for the charge and denied the request. Marroquin will remain in the county jail; his attorney is Michelle Latray.

Michael Victor Newsom appeared in court without an attorney. After applying for court assistance, the judge reviewed his application and appointed Attorney John Bankhead to represent Newsom who is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Newsom is free on bond.

Owen Alexander Stovall pled not guilty to a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Stovall is currently free on bond. The attorney for Stovall is Charley Johnson.
