Cases Against Former Leon County Deputies Resolved

On April 1, 2019, three Leon County deputies and one Normangee Police Department officer reached an agreement with the State of Texas on felony charges of Misuse of Official Information. The deputies agreed to surrender their peace officers licenses in exchange for dismissal of the charges. One officer permanently surrendered the state-issued license given to law enforcement officers and agreed that he would never seek, accept or engage in employment in any capacity with law enforcement. The remaining officers agreed to surrender their licenses for a period of ten years. If the officers violate any parts of the agreement, the state can refile the charges against them. The case was prosecuted by Leon County District Attorney Hope L. Knight and Alicia O?Neill. O?Neill is a former Harris County prosecutor and was also featured on Cold Justice, a reality series that follows prosecutors across the nation as they assist local law enforcement by reinvestigating cold cases.
