Commissioners Meet

All four Leon County Commissioners were present for their last regular meeting of the month held in Centerville on April 24th. Leon County Judge Byron Ryder presided.

Fran Prather was present to thank the CERT and RSVP programs for supplying Disaster Kit Backpacks to persons in Leon County who are recipients of Meals on Wheels. The backpacks contain supplies including a blanket, weather radio, first aid kit, flashlight, and other emergency items that could help an isolated person survive a few days in the event of an emergency. Seventy four bags were provided for the county.

The court approved a request from the Centerville American Legion #335 to have a fundraiser on the Courthouse Square May 25th from 10 am to 8 pm.

Approval was given to accept the bid of $1,000 from Katherine and David Kaufman to purchase Lot 48, Block 1, Hilltop Lakes, Section 7.

A preliminary plat for the Deerfield Subdivison was approved. This subdivision will be located on County Road 977 near Leona and will include paved streets.

The court approved the promotion of educational awareness during Soil Stewardship Week April 28th ? May 5th.

Approval was given for an Adopt a County Road on County Road 413 from I-45 to County Road 477.

A pipeline agreement for ONEOK Arbuckle II Pipeline, LLC was tabled.

The court heard a proposal from a representative of Records Management Consulting Services to evaluate and determine what physical records are no longer necessary to store since the same records are safely stored electronically. The focus of the evaluation would be the County Clerk?s Office. The court approved the service for a cost not to exceed $4,300.

The court approved a Disaster Declaration for April 7, 13, and 17 due to flooding, excessive wind and rain which caused damage in several areas of the county.

Approval was voted for the Leon County Investment Policy. Also approved was the First Quarter investment report.

The court approved the Xerox copier lease for the County Clerk?s Office at a cost of $16.94 a month.

An announcement was made that a new county chapter of the National Rifle Association (NRA) will open May13th in Flynn. It will be held at the Flynn Volunteer Fire Department at 6pm.
