LCYLS Starts Next Week!

April is here ? our month of hope is here ? Easter.

Spring is here and so is the Leon County Youth Livestock Show.

We will have the opportunity to see our amazing Leon County Youth display the results of their use of God given talents, knowledge, hard work, and perseverance. They are very fortunate to have the strong support of their families and community and the ability to exhibit all of their projects in an excellent facility ? the Leon County Expo.

This week we will highlight some of the youth that will have livestock exhibits - they come from Centerville, Buffalo, and Marquez.

Kortnie Ellis is a senior at Centerville High School and brings a wealth of experience to the LCYLS. She has been in FFA 4 years , 4H 10 years, shown rabbits 4 years, shown lambs 9 years, and will again be showing rabbits (Californians) this year. Her parents, Karen and Kevin Ellis, have been excellent supportive role models and will be sending Kortnie to Trinity Valley Community College in August to pursue an occupational therapy career.

Avery Waters is a sixth grader at Buffalo Upper Junior High and has been participating in the LCYLS for 4 years. She is a well rounded young lady, enjoying a variety of activities involving sports, the outdoors, and livestock. A member of 4H for 4 years and joining Junior FFA this year, Avery will be showing a Boer Cross Wether goat in this years? competition. Her motto ?you earn your rewards at home but pick ?em up at the show?. Strong work ethics and positive reinforcement come from parents Melissa and Adam Waters and little sister Karlee.

Melanie and Barrett Speer of Marquez complete the highlighted students this week. These Leon ISD students are extremely active in showing livestock and bring first class Crossbred steers to this years? LCYLS show. These Leon County youth are ready to compete and Dad, Kent Speer and Granddad, Mike Speer are in full support. If you do not see a picture of their steers in this article, I guess you will have to come the LCYLS to ?check them out? ? you will NOT be disappointed.

Please support our youth and attend the scheduled events ? ?Our Kids / Our Future?
