Adam & Jessica Wood of Wood Cattle Company in Donie, TX raised the Grand Champion Cow/Calf Pair that was shown at the 2019 Houston Livestock Show on Monday, March 4th.

?We are super blessed to own these animals,? Wood said.

The Wood Family showed the Grand Champion Cow/Calf pair. Ena D 49, a two year old, is a three time International Grand Champion in the Wagyu world. Her progeny has produced thousands of Prime & above Prime carcasses sold throughout the US & other countries. Her father Rueshaw II is one of the leader in carcass trait in the breed.

Their two time International Reserve Grand Champion is a 10 month old power house of genetics. Her ancestors go directly back to the first few Wagyu that left Japan. We are truly blessed to have her in our herd . Her Father, Popeye, is well-known for his great size at 2400lbs and his calves are famous and highly sought after by feedlots as well as all high end beef packers. Recent carcass data show 1400 head harvested of those 90% grading mid prime.

?We will be offering embryos out of Ena in the next few months as well as some of her direct relatives,? Wood said. ?We plan to build on this great champion, as she has proven to defiantly be a foundation cow.?

Adam has been In the cattle business since he was a child, but is super excited about the future of the Wagyu breed. He has been involved and a member of the American Wagyu Association and the Texas Wagyu Association for the last three years. He was a guest auctioneer for the Southern Wagyu Alliance Caracas sale of 2018 in Louisville, Kentucky. He is truly honored to be apart of such a magnificent breed.
