Buffalo ISD Cancels Elections

The school board elections for Buffalo ISD scheduled to be held in May, were canceled at the recent monthly board meeting Monday, February 18th. All three of the current board members up for reelection had signed up to run again, but no one signed in opposition; therefore, an election is not required. Board Members Monty McGill, Randy Ayers, and John Rodell, will continue to hold their current seats.

Following a closed door session, the board voted to approve the recommendations regarding Campus Principals, Assistant Principal, Business Manager, Athletic Director, Assistant Superintendent and Technology Director for the 2019-2020 school year as presented by Superintendent Lacy Freeman.

The board also approved a calendar for the 2019-2020 school year. This calendar will be added soon to the school website.

Approval was voted for an early release day at the high school only on March 27. The students will be dismissed at noon that day.

The budget amendment regarding the donation from Citizens State Bank was approved. This donation was the new batting cages for the baseball and softball fields.

The budget amendment regarding bond payments was approved.

Approval was given for a bid from 3D Construction to build the awnings needed at the elementary school.

The quote for the CDW Chromebook was approved and also the Ample Server quote.

Elementary Principal Tina Rayburn gave an update on programs and progresses on her campus.

Total enrollment for BISD is 948. The next regular meeting was scheduled for March 25, at 6pm in the high school library.
