Read Signs to Play For Charlotte 49’s

OFFICIAL VISIT -- Rhett’s officials visit last weekend. Pictured are Debbie Read, Rhett Read, Coach Heeley and Mark Read.

Rhett Read has decided to take advantage of the early signing period so that he can enroll a semester early and go through the UNCC spring football and offseason program. He is transferring a 3.51 GPA and will transfer 8 hours back to Blinn to complete his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. The Charlotte 49?ers are a Division One FBS relatively new (8 seasons) football program in Conference USA-East Division. The 9?ers are returning 8 1st Team All Conference players and were one win away from playing in the Bahamas Bowl this season. We had the opportunity to visit the University, Football Facility, and City of Charlotte last weekend. There are approx. 30,000 students, the facility is first class, and the City has everything you can imagine. Pro football, basketball, hockey, triple A baseball, and NASCAR hall of fame.

Congratulations Rhett on a rare opportunity! Less than 1% of football players earn a Division One Scholarship. Don?t take it for granted, work hard, and have fun.
