Hometown Recipes 11-6-18

Oh-my-goodness! Just looked at the calendar and ?did-you-know-that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Are you prepared? Am I? NO! But?my five daughters-in-love takecare of all that now and I am mostly just responsible for my Cranberry Fruit Mold. Have more recipe books than I need, but can?t part with any of them. So, we here we go!

Fruit Pizza

1 roll sugar cookie dough

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese

? c. powdered sugar

fresh strawberries

fresh peaches


kiwi fruit

preserves (optional)

Roll sugar cookie dough out on a pizza pan. Cook it at 350 degrees for 7 to 9 minutes. Blend together cream cheese and powdered sugar. Spread mixture onto the dough. Put strawberry halves around the outer edge of dough. Then follow with peaches, kiwi and bananas. Pour thin mixture of preserves over top of fruit. Chill and serve. Mmmm good!

Bread Pudding

5 slices broken-up bread

1 lg. can evaporated milk

1 ? c. sugar (to be added in after milk)

1 t. cinnamon

2 t. vanilla

1 stick melted butter (or margarine)

1 ? c. milk

? c. pecan pieces

6 lg. eggs, lightly beaten

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine ingredients (adding eggs last) and blend. Pour into baking dish that has been sprayed. Bake for 45 minutes to an hour, making sure that the center is done. Awesome!

One of my most-treasured recipes from my dear friend, ?Barb?!

1 ? boxes powdered sugar

1 can Eagle Brand milk

1 can Angel Flake coconut

1 stick melted oleo margarine

1 qt. pecans, broken coarsely

1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

? lb. paraffin

Combine first 3 ingredients; mix well. Add melted margarine; mix well. Add pecan pieces and mix well. Cover with wax paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Shape into balls ? inches in diameter. Dip in chocolate and cool on wax paper. In double boiler, melt chocolate chips and paraffin. Dip balls in this mixture. (My note: So good it?ll make ya want to eat the whole darn batch!!!

Chocolate Chip Pie

2 eggs

1 stick margarine

1 c. sugar

1 c. chocolate chips

1 c. pecans

1/3 c. flour

1 (9 inch) pie crust

Melt margarine. Add sugar and beat. Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy. In another bowl, add chocolate chips, pecans and flour. Mix well. Add this to the above mixture, and stir until well blended. Pour into the pie shell and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30-35 minutes. Cool well before cutting. (That?s the hard part; the waiting!)
