Court with Judge Ridley

A District Court Docket was heard in the Leon County Courtroom, Wednesday, August 1st. The Honorable District Judge Hal Ridley presided. Representing the state?s cases were Leon County District Attorney Hope Knight and Assistant District Attorney Keith Cook.

Sentences:

Courtney Wayne Sheridan, currently being held in the Leon County Jail, agreed to settle the two felony charges against him. Sheirdan was sentenced to 7 years in the Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Sheridan was also sentenced to 15 months on Abandon/Endanger a Child / Criminal Negligence. The attorney for Sheridan was Chris Martin.

Robert Dewyne Lotts of Centerville, who has been free on a $10,000 bond, accepted a plea bargain in his case. Lotts was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication on the charge of Burglary of a Habitation. Attorney Chris Martin represents Lotts.

Atlanta Rose Coursey of Keller entered a guilty plea to a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Coursey was sentenced to 15 months deferred adjudication. The attorney representing Coursey was Chris Martin.

Other Proceedings:

The case against Justin McKay Land of Corsicana was reset. Land, who is free on two bonds totaling $70,000, is charged with two counts of Burglary of a Habitation. The attorney for Land is William Price.

No pre-trial motions were made in the case against Marcus Lotts. Lotts, who is being held in the county jail, is charged with Assault Family/Household Member with a Previous Conviction and with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Lotts is also charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle. The attorney for Lotts is Joel Hardy.

A hearing to Suppress was reset in the case against Stephanie Anne McKnight of Marquez. McKnight, free on a $25,000 bond, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The attorney for McKnight is William Carter.

Michael Dylan Thompson, currently free on a $50,000 bond, was in court on an arraignment of a Motion to Adjudicate. The original charge against Thompson was Burglary of a Habitation. The attorney representing Thompson is Chris Martin.

No pre trial motions were made in the case against Charles Edward Merchant, Jr. of Caldwell. Merchant, who is free on a $5,000 bond, is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. The attorney for Merchant is John Bankhead.

Arraignment:

Leslie Bruce Grantland entered a not guilty plea to a charge of Burglary of a Habitation. Grantland, free on a $10,000 bond, is represented in court by Attorney John Bankhead.

Mohammad Ibrahim Ghiri of Houston plead not guilty to a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Ghiri, who is free on a $10,000 bond, is represented by Attorney Mark Schaffer.
