District 8 4-H Surge

Nine Leon County 4-H members participated in District 8 4-H SURGE (formerly known as Leadership Lab) at T Bar M Camp, in New Braunfels, on June 24-27. Participants included Emma Adams, Nathan Barrett, Makayla Gilliam, Callie Harter, Aurora Moran, Cole Rappolee, Annika Stevens, Zoie Stevens and Natalie Uptmor. They were joined by 150 other 4-H members, Extension staff and adult volunteers from across District 8, which includes 21 counties. Activities included educational workshops, service projects, challenge games, a day at Schlitterbahn, District 4-H Council officer elections, dances and ceremonials. Participants strengthened their leadership skills so they can provide programs and facilitate activities for other audiences. Nathan and Zoie were both elected to serve as officers for the 2018-19 District 8 4-H Council. Nathan served as a Vice Chairman last year, and was elected as 1st Vice Chairman, in which he will also represent District 8 on the Texas 4-H Council. Zoie will serve as a Vice Chairmen.
