Court with Judge Ridley

Leon County District Court was held Wednesday, June 27th, in Centerville. The Honorable District Judge Hal Ridley presided. Present to represent the state were Leon County District Attorney Hope Knight and Assistant District Attorney Keith Cook.

Deitric Lamond Williams of Pine Bluff, AR, was sentenced to 2 years in the Texas Department of Corrections Jail. Williams plead guilty to Possession of Marijuana. The attorney for Williams was Kelly Weeks.

Decorian J. Cork was sentenced after a Motion to Adjudicate his sentence was made by the state. Cork, who has been held in the Leon County Jail, was on probation after pleading guilty to a charge of Possession of Marijuana. Cork was sentenced to 58 days in the county jail. Representing Cork was Attorney Stanley Sokolowski.

Hector Luis Gomez of Missouri City was sentenced to 5 years on a deferred adjudication sentence after agreeing to plead guilty to a charge of Possession of Marijuana. Gomez must pay a fine of $3,500 and $180 in restitution to the Department of Public Safety Lab. Gomez must also successfully complete 200 hours of community service and complete a course in drug offense education. The attorney for Gomez was Richard Price.

Three cases were set for trial in July. Justin McKay Land of Corsicana is scheduled for trial on two charges of Burglary of a Habitation. Land, who is free on two bonds that total $70,000, is represented by Attorney William Price.

The case against Atlanta Rose Coursey of Keller was set for trial in July. Coursey, free on a bond of $3,500, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The attorney for Coursey is Chris Martin.

Kayla Renee Jones? case was also set for a trial in July. Jones, from Beeville, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and is free on a $3,500 bond. The attorney for Jones is Joe Kelly.

A hearing in the case of Christopher S. Boles of Centerville was reset for July 23rd. Boles, currently free on a $30,000 bond, is charged with Prohibitive Substance / Item in a Correctional Facility. The attorney for Boles is Stephen Reed.

Maurice L. Darnell of Normangee was in court on a Motion to Revoke his probation. The judge entered a not guilty plea for Darnell who is currently free on a $5,000 bond. Darnell was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury to Family Member.

Arraignments:

Douglas Dean Chicken, currently housed in the county jail, was arraigned on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Against a Public Servant and a charge of Obstruction or Retaliation. Chicken plead not guilty to the charges. The attorney for Chicken is Chris Martin.

Lomil Brian Farve of Missouri City plead not guilty to a charge of Possession of Marijuana. The judge appointed Attorney Hutton Ask to represent Farve who is free on a $5,000 bond.

Craig Wallace Lee of Etoile entered a not guilty plea to a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Lee is free on a $3,000 bond. The judge appointed Attorney Michelle LaTray to represent Lee.
