Dad & Daughter Killed in Wreck

The community of Buffalo is mourning the loss of a dad and daughter following a two-vehicle collision that occurred last Tuesday, June 12th, at 7:12pm on FM 39 four miles north of Jewett, TX.

According to DPS reports, road conditions were rainy and wet at the time of the crash.

Ana Torres, age 28, was traveling north towards Personville in a 2008 Ford Edge.Pedro Sanchez, Allison Sanchez, and Isaid Torres were the three passengers also in the vehicle.

Byron Evans, age 59, of Jewett, TX was traveling south towards Jewett in a 2001 Chevrolet. According to reports, Evans? vehicle appeared to cross over into Torres? lane and Torres tried to take evasive action and veered to the left to avoid Evans? vehicle. However, Evans tried to veer back into his lane as well, but was unsuccessful before a head-on collision occurred.

JP Lori Reid pronounced Ana?s daughter Allison, age 5, and Pedro Sanchez dead on the scene. Ana and her son Isaid, age 3, were transported to Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Evans was transported to Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck.

Leon County DPS Trooper Mike Asby was the investigating officer.

A chicken fajita plate fundraiser was held on Saturday, June 23rd, to help cover funeral expenses for the family.
