Court with Judge Evans

The 87th District Court was held, Friday, June 15th, in Centerville. The Honorable District Judge Deborah Oakes Evans presided over a long docket. Present to represent the state were Leon County District Attorney Hope Knight and Assistant District Attorney Keith Cook.

Sentencing:

Lonnie Hornsby received a deferred sentence of 10 years after pleading guilty to a charge of Assault of a Public Servant. The attorney for Hornsby was John Bankhead.

Arthur Kemon Robinson plead guilty to a charge of Burglary of a Habitation and received a deferred sentence. Robinson, who has been held in the Leon County Jail, will also be required to pay fines and court costs. The attorney representing Robinson was John Bankhead.

Albert Myua Jacobs was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to a charge of Assault Family/Household Member with a Previous Conviction. Jacobs must also pay fines and court costs. The attorney for Jacobs was Joel Hardy.

Ralph Roy Wallace was sentenced to probation in exchange for a guilty plea in his case. Wallace pled guilty to Driving While Intoxicated, 3rd or More. Wallace must spend 5 days in the county jail, pay fines and court costs, and complete 250 hours of community service. The attorney for Wallace was Michelle Latray.

Status:

In the case against Dustin Bresko, Matthew Cowan, Brandon Monk, and Christian Negron, all charged with Misuse of Official Information, is delayed pending a plea offer to be made by Knight and special prosecutor Alicia O?Neil. All four men are former Leon County Deputies and each have their own attorneys. All are currently free on bail awaiting final outcome of the case.

Anthony Dawon Robinson appeared in court on a charge of Burglary of a Building. The attorney for Robinson, Joel Hardy, said that a plea offer from the state has been made but rejected by Robinson.

Jeremy Edward Whitmire also rejected a plea offer from the district attorney?s office in his case. Whitmire is charged with Burglary of a Building. The attorney for Whitmire is John Bankhead.

Jerome Dawson, Jr., who is being held in the county jail, plead not guilty to the allegations that he has violated terms of his probation. Dawson has been on probation since he plead guilty to a charge of Deadly Conduct, Discharge of a Firearm. The attorney for Dawson is Stanley Sokolowski.

Kevin Lee Tucker, who is being housed in the county jail, said that he was not guilty of the state?s allegations that he has violated his probation. Tucker, originally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Aggravated Assault Causing Bodily Injury, is represented by Attorney Stanley Sokolowski.

Bobbie Clarence Hampton also stated that the state?s allegations that he has violated the terms of his probation are false. Hampton is currently in the county jail; he was originally charged with 3 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. The attorney for Hampton is Paul Looney.

Greg Tate, the attorney for Richard Louis Hennis, reported that a plea offer has been made in the case. Louis, who is being held in the county jail, is charged with Indecency with a Child, Sexual Contact.

Aspen D?Ann Adams appeared in court for a status hearing is her case. Adams is charged with Assault of a Public Servant. The attorney for Adams is Stanley Sokolowski.

Darrell Glen Bowers was in court for a status hearing in his case. Bowers, charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, is represented by Attorney Leslie Wallrath.

Bridget Nichol Cast, charged with Assault of a Public Servant, was in court for a hearing in her case. Cast?s attorney is Michelle Latray. The case was set for trial on October 1st.

In the case against Linwood Dean Durham, his attorney, William Carter reported that he and the district attorney?s office are working on the terms of a plea bargain. Durham is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, 3rd or More.

Melvin Lewis Garrison failed to appear in court for his hearing. The attorney for Garrison, Richard Price, said that he had not had recent contact with Garrison who is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The case against Gerald Lee Grissett was set for August 9th. Grissett is charged with Indecency with a Child, Sexual Contact. The attorney for Grissett is William Carter.

Steven Ray Latham appeared in court for a status hearing in his case. Latham is charged with Injury to a Child/Elderly/Disabled with Intended Bodily Injury. The attorney for Latham is Chad Morgan.

Jason Rhett Maneely was in court on a status hearing. Maneely is charged with Assault Bodily Injury Family/Household Member. Knight indicated that if Maneely did not agree to a plea bargain in the case, the offer would be withdrawn. The attorney for Maneely is Michael Dahlenburg.

Arraignments:

Kaylee Marie Allison appeared in court without an attorney. The judge instructed Allison to have an attorney present at her next court date. Allison is charged with Theft of Livestock.

Gregory William Brison failed to have an attorney present. The judge instructed Brison to hire legal counselor. Brison is charged with Unauthorized Absence from a Community Correction Facility.

Nacombi Aftri Darton was not present when her case was called. Darton is charged with Prostitution Solicitation. The attorney for Darton is Kelly Weeks.

Athena Nikita Leon, currently held in the county jail, appeared for arraignment on a charge of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. The attorney for Leon is Hutton Ask.

Rory Stephen Piccone entered a not guilty plea to a charge of Driving While Intoxicated, 3rd or More. The attorney for Piccone is William Bennett, Jr.

Colton Lawrence Stancik entered a not guilty plea to a charge of Theft of Livestock.

John W. Venable plead not guilty to a charge of Burglary of a Habitation. Venable, who is currently being held in the county jail, in represented by Attorney Chris Martin.

Travis Lee Willis plead not guilty to the charge of Indecency with a Child, Sexual Contact. The attorney for Willis is Chris Martin.
