Leon County Case Ends in Hung Jury

A Leon County Jury spent three days last week, beginning February 5th, hearing the case against Shawn Christianson of Jewett before their deliberations ended in a deadlock on Wednesday. The jury was made up of nine women and four men with one serving as an alternate. Presiding over the case was the Honorable District Judge Deborah Oakes Evans.

Christianson is charged with Assault of a Family/Household Member with a Previous Conviction. The previous conviction on was on the same charge in Freestone County in 2012. Representing Christianson in this case was Attorney Stanley Sokolowski.

Leon County District Attorney Hope Knight and Assistant District Attorney Keith Cook represented the state. Details of the case will not be given at this time as there is a possibility that the case will be retried in the near future.
