District Court Sentencing

Leon County District Court was held Wednesday, November 29th, in Centerville. The Honorable District Judge Bascom Bentley presided over the short docket. The Honorable District Judge Michael Davis was also present. Davis will take Judge Bentley?s place on the bench as Bentley has recently retired. Representing the state were Leon District Attorney Hope Knight and Assistant District Attorney Keith Cook.

A plea bargain was reached in the case against Leon Grayson. Grayson pled guilty to Sexual Assault of a Child, Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, and 2 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. Grayson was sentenced to 20 years in the Texas Department of Corrections.

Brandon Rutledge pled guilty to Assault / Family Violence with a Prior Conviction. Rutledge was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication and was fined $2,500. Rutledge must also donate $500 to Domestic Violence Advocates Program, $50 to Crime Stoppers, $50 to Crime Victims Fund, and complete 300 hours of community service. Rutledge must also complete an Anger Management Class and have no contact with the victim.

Gregory Nicholson pled guilty to Burglary of a Building in a Motion to Adjudicate. Nicholson was sentenced to 6 months in the Texas Department of Corrections Jail.

Terrell Buckner was arraigned on a charge of Assault / Family Violence with a Prior Conviction. Buckner pled not guilty. The attorney for Buckner is Richard Price.
