Court with Judge Ridley

Leon County District Court was held Wednesday, September 27th, in Centerville. The honorable District Judge Hal Ridley presided. Representing the state was Leon County Assistant District Attorney Keith Cook.

Sentencing:

Michael Jamal Hodge received a sentence of 15 months in Texas Department of Corrections after he pled guilty to a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Hodge, who has been held in the Leon County Jail, will be given credit for timed already served. The attorney for Hodge was Kelly Weeks.

Billy Wayne Duck of Oakwood changed his plea to guilty on the charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Duck received a sentence of 5 years deferred adjudication. The attorney representing Duck was George Robinson.

Charlotte Ann Jeffries of Midway pled guilty to a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance and was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication. Jeffries is currently being held in the Walker County Jail. The attorney for Jeffries was Stanley Sokolowski.

Other Court

Proceedings:

Megan Leanne Short of Centerville was in court for her case. Short, who is currently held in the Leon County Jail, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The attorney for Short is Michael Dahlenburg. No actions were taken in this case.

David Thomas Blackmon of Oakwood was present in court on his case. No pre-trial motions were made. Blackmon, who is free on a $5,000 bond, is charged with Injury to a Child with Intent of Bodily Injuries. The attorney for Blackmon is Jeffrey Coe.

Charles Dale Herford was present, but no actions were taken in his pre-trial hearing. Herford, free on a total of $8,500 in bond, is charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The attorney for Herford is W.T. Exley.

Casey Michelle Noey of Normangee was in court for a pre-trial in her case. Noey is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and is free on a $5,000 bond. The attorney for Noey is Michael Dahlenburg. No actions were taken.

Erica Shaena Smith was in court for a pre-trial. No actions were taken. Smith, who is free on a $2,000 bond, is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The attorney for Smith is Michael Dahlenburg.

Attorney John Bankhead made a Motion to Suppress in the case of his client Tracy Earl Bowen of Montgomery. Bowen, free on a $7,000 bond, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Austin James Howard Groves of Kemp was present for a pre-trial in his case. Groves is charged with Burglary of a Building. The attorney for Groves, who is free on a $3,000 bond, is Stanley Sokolowski. No actions were taken.
