District Court With Judge Ridley

Leon County District Court was called to order Wednesday, May 24th, in Centerville. The honorable District Judge Hal Ridley presided. Representing the state were Leon County District Attorney Hope Knight and Assistant District Attorney Keith Cook.

The case against John Wayne Meredith of Buffalo was set as the #1 case for trial on June 13th. Meredith, who is being held in the Leon County Jail, is charged with Assault Family/Household Member with a Previous Conviction. Meredith also faces a new charge of Violation of Bond/Protective Order with 2 Previous Convictions. The attorney for Meredith is Stanley Sokolowski.

The second case set for June 13th is against Joe Harold Fisher of Palestine. Fisher is charged with Burglary of a Habitation and is currently free on a $2,500 bond. The attorney for Fisher is Michael Dahlenburg.

The third case for June 13th is for Chad Mitchell Wilson of Coldspring. Wilson, who is free on a $5,000 bond, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The attorney for Wilson is Richard Price.

The #1 trial set for July 5th is against Harold Jefferson Morrison who is currently held in the county jail. Morrison is charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Enhanced Habitual, and with Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant with a Deadly Weapon, and with Burglary of a Habitation, Enhanced Habitual. The attorney representing Morrison is Kelly Weeks.

The case against John Roxie Roby of Marquez was set for July 5th. Roby is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and is free on a $5,000 bond. Representing Roby is Attorney Leslie Wallrath.

Joseph Kyle Hall, who is being held in the county jail, entered a guilty plea to the charge of Burglary of a Habitation. Hall had been on probation from this conviction since November of 2016, but the state alleged that Hall violated the terms of that probation. Hall pled guilty and was sentenced to 6 years in the Texas Department of Corrections (TDC).

Tabitha Fairhurst of Bryan failed to appear in court for a Motion to Adjudicate in her case. Fairhusrt, who has been free on a $20,000 bond, is charged with Theft of Property. Fairhurst?s bond was revoked, and the judge issued a warrant for her arrest. Attorney Kelly Weeks is representing Fairhurst. The new bond was set at $50,000.


Charlotte Ann Jeffries of Midway entered a plea of not guilty on the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Jeffries is free on a $3,000 bond.

Megan Leanne Short failed to appear for her arraignment on the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. The attorney for Short is Michael Dahlenburg who said he had not heard from her. Short?s bond for $5,000 was revoked, and a warrant for her arrest was issued. The new bond for Short is set at $20,000.
