The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recognized a State Trooper for forty years of safe driving with the department.

Trooper Mike Asby, who has been stationed in Centerville for his entire career as a State Trooper, received the forty year safe driving award from DPS Regional Commander Philip D. Steen and Texas Highway Patrol Major Dwight Mathis, on July 12, 2016, at the DPS Regional 2 Headquarters in Houston. In attendance at the ceremony was Trooper Asby?s wife, Ann.

The award, which is earned for every five years of safe driving by DPS employees, highlights Trooper Asby?s careful driving habits.

DPS encourages motorists to drive defensively and keep distractions to a minimum while operating a vehicle. Proper awareness of roadway conditions and anticipation of dangerous situations will reduce the likelihood of being involved in a motor vehicle crash. The Texas Department of Public Safety wants all motorists to arrive at their destination safely.
